Editorial Criteria
The editorial critera largely follow the series Fonti per la storia di Venezia of the Comitato per la pubblicazione delle fonti relative alla storia di Venezia. Accordingly, capital letters, punctuation, and paragraphing are normalized in accordance with modern philological criteria. The choice between u and v, as well as prepositions at the end of words have been changed when they did not correspond to modern Italian usage. Likewise, connected words that do not include double letters (such as -ala, dela, etc) have been separated. Accents were added according to modern Italian custom, to prevent ambiguities.
Editorial interventions were made to enable better reading and understanding of the text. These are presented between square brackets. Other special marks are incorporated to indicate problematic sections (see list below). Technical terms, most of them no longer in use, were explained separately in the glossary.
Monetary units used in the transcriptions, all units of account, are lire and soldi di piccoli (1 lira=20 soldi), and ducati and grossi (1 ducato=24 grossi). Monetary abbreviations remain in their abbreviated form, according to custom.
